Lowland League Match preview
East Kilbride v Vale of Leithen
Kilby welcome Vale of Leithen to K-Park this afternoon in the final home League match of the season, as Billy Stark's men aim to maintain their lead at the top of the Lowland League table.
A positive week at home so far has returned wins over Whitehill Welfare and Civil Service Strollers, and the K-Park crowd will be hoping for more of the same today.
Fabio Capuano and BJ Coll are still absent due to injury, and Martin McBride has joined Arthurlie on a 28-day loan to try and establish some match fitness after a knee injury in December. U-20 defender Conor Bell retains his place in the squad after a midweek debut against Civil Service Strollers, and Gavin Millar also returns to the fold. 17-year old Edin Lynch also earns an elevation from our U-20 squad after a series of impressive SPFL West Development displays, meaning that 7 players from today's 18-man squad have come through our youth development pathway.
Vale come to K-Park in 14th spot in the table, having lost 2-0 at BSC Glasgow in their last outing, after impressive wins over Whitehill Welfare and Universtity of Stirling.
The reverse game at Victoria Park in August saw EK run out comfortable 4-0 winners, courtesy of goals from Aiden Ferris, Ross McNeil, Liam Coogans and Barry Russell.
The corresponding fixture at K-Park last season in October 2016 saw a milestone for East Kilbride, who recorded their 26th consecutive win to equal the famous Ajax record.
That day Kilby twice fought back from behind to run out 4-2 winners over a determined Vale side, with Kieran Gibbons, Sean Winter and Martin McBride on target.
Gaffer Billy Stark will be looking for another strong performance, with Kilby seeking their sixth win in succession, as the Lowland League race enters its final stages.
Kick-off is 3pm at K-Park, admission is £6 for adults and £3 concession.
